– Cling to Jesus -

My daughters, try as best you can, without excessive anxiety, to do what you must and wish to do with perfection. But once it is done, think no more about it, but rather, attend only to what you must and want to do or to what you are doing. Walk with simplicity in the ways of the Lord and do not torment your spirit. You must hate your faults, but with a quiet hate, not troublesome and restless. We must be patient with them and gain from them through holy humility. Without that patience, my good daughters, instead of diminishing, your imperfections will increase constantly, as there is nothing that nourishes our defects like restlessness, and the haste to drive them away. Ho tanta confidenza in Gesù, che se anche vedessi l’inferno aperto dinanzi a me, e mi trovassi sull’orlo dell’abisso, non diffiderei, non dispererei, confiderei in lui. Tal’è la confidenza che m’ispira la sua mansuetudine. Allorché mi metto a considerare le grandi battaglie, superate col divino aiuto sopra del demonio, ne conto tante da non potersi enumerare. Chi sa quante volte, se lui non mi avesse stesa la mano, la mia fede avrebbe vacillato, la mia speranza, la mia carità venuta meno, il mio intelletto si sarebbe oscurato, se Gesù, sole eterno, non l’avesse illuminato!!! – Ti cerco, o mio Signore -

Padre mio,con animo straziante mi sottopongo a vivere la vita, e solo per non disgustare Gesù…Ma perché poi non mi è dato di amarlo con sincerità e serenità di spirito?Mi sento solo, ed un gran vuoto che mi spaventa si va sempre facendo nell’animo mio. Questo povero cuore è irrequieto e non so dove posarlo. Lo poso in Gesù, e non è sazio ancora. Che disgrazia l’è mai questa? O se potessi amare Gesù, quanto sarei felice! - No fear on your mind -

May Jesus always be at the centre of your heart, to fill it and make it abound with his holy love … Long live Jesus … this is the inner thought by which we must live and die. Have no fear as regards your spirit, because it is absolutely not true that you have taken the wrong path. The path you tread is the one that will lead you to Heaven. And it is all the safer because Jesus himself takes you by the hand.  Do not upset yourself at spiritual aridity and desolation.   On the contrary, be consoled in spirit,and remember what our Lord said : Blessed are the poor in spirit (…) blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
