- Jesus the friend of the heart -

From Padre Pio writtings:

Pray to this divine Lover for me; this beloved Spouse of our souls, that he may accomplish the work he began in me, poor thing; in this poor and abject creature of his to whom he has shown signs of a very special predilection from the time of birth: He has shown me that not only would he be my Saviour, my supreme Benefactor, but a devoted, sincere and faithful friend of my heart; eternal and infinite love, consolation, joy, comfort, my entire treasure. ( Letters III, p.1014)

From Padre Pio writtings:

A sad but most sweet voice echoed in my poor heart; it was the warning of a loving Father who pointed out to his son, the dangers he would encounter in the struggle of life. It was the voice of a benevolent Father, who wanted his son’s heart detached from infantile, innocent love; it was the voice of a loving Father who whispered in the ears and heart of the son in order to detach him totally from the clay, from mud, in order to jealously consecrate himself entirely to Him. Ardently, with loving sighs, with inexplicable groanings, with sweet and suave words He called him to himself, to make him totally His. ( Letters III, p.1014/15)

From Padre Pio writtings:

On the contrary, in order to be good servants of God, we must be charitable towards our neighbour; have an inviolable determination to do the will of God, in the upper part of the spirit; have profound humility and simplicity in order to confide in God, picking ourselves up again many times when we fall, and tranquilly bearing others in their imperfection. ( Letters III, p.932)

From Padre Pio writtings:

May you be consoled … by the sweet thought of your love for Jesus and of being loved by him much more in return. Let us ask him for the grace to love him and to see him loved more and more. Let us ask him this with the spouse of the holy Canticles: O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth, for your love is better than wine (Song 1:1). How often do we priests especially receive from Jesus this kiss of peace in the most holy Sacrament! Yes, let us ardently desire this kiss of the divine mouth and still more let us show our gratitude for it. What more precious gift can we wretched mortals desire from God? If we earnestly endeavour to love Jesus, this alone will deive all fear from our hearts and the soul will find that instead of walking in the Lord’s paths, it is flying.(Letters I, p.455 /456)
