– Abduction of the spirit -

Since then the merciful Lord has helped me powerfully by his grace. The Lord God has bestowed very great gifts on my soul. It seems to me that through this abundant help my soul has made progress …  The soul olaced in this state by the Lord and enriched with much heavenly knowledge ought to be more eloquent, but it isn’t, it has become almost speechless. I don’t know if this is something which happens to me alone. In very general terms and more often than not in words which are empty of meaning, my soul succeeds in expressing some small part of what the Spouse of souls is accomplishing within it. Da qualche tempo in qua il pietoso Signore mi ha potentemente aiutato colla sua grazia. Doni assai grandi il Signore Iddio ha fatto all’anima mia; parmi che con tali abbondanti aiuti il mio spirito sia andato migliorando … l’anima posta dal Signore in tale stato, arricchita di tante celesti cognizioni dovrebbe essere più loquace; eppure no, essa è divenuta quasi muta. Non saprei se questo sia un fenomeno che si avvera in me solo. Con termini generici, ed il più delle volte vuoti anche di senso, riesce l’anima ad esprimere qualche particella di ciò che in lei lo sposo dell’anima va operando. Credetelo pure, padre mio, che tutto questo per l’anima non è un lieve tormento. ( Ep.I,462)

Avancez avec simplicité sur les voies du Seigneur, et ne vous faites pas de souci. Détestez vos défauts, oui, mais tranquillement, sans agitation, ni inquiétude. Il faut user de patience à leur égard et en tirer profit grâce à une sainte humilité. Faute de patience, vos imperfections, au lieu de disparaitre, ne feron que croitre. Walk with simplicity in the ways of the Lord and do not torment your spirit. You must hate your faults, but with a quiet hate, noy troublesome and restless. We must be patient with them and gain from them through holy humility. Without that patience, instead of diminishing, your imperfections will increase constantly, as there is nothing that nourishes our defects like restlessness, and the haste to drive them away. Figliuolo, tu non sai cosa produce l’obbedienza.  Ecco: per un sì, per un solo sì, fiat secundum verbum tuum, per fare la volontà di Dio, Maria divenne madre dell’Altissimo, professandosi una sua ancella, ma conservando la verginità che tanto a Dio e a lei era cara.   Per quel sì, pronunciato da Maria santissima, il mondo ottenne la salvezza, l’umanità fu redenta. – Immolarsi nel corpo e nell’anima -

L’anima non potrà unirsi a Dio senza che essa si spogli da ogni sensibile naturale, spirituale e soprannaturale intellezione ed affezione. Lo spirituale deve astrarsi dai sensi e dalle operazioni intellettuali, elevarsi al di sopra di tutti gli oggetti sensibili, sopra tutti i principi intelligibili della scienza, al di sopra di ogni naturale discorso, al di sopra delle stesse essenze immutabili e sopra le cose caduche e temporanee e salire sulle ali della fede per unirsi a Dio, il quale è superiore a tutte le cose … dunque se l’anima vuole unirsi a Dio in questa vita per grazia ed amore deve necessariamente privarsi di tutto ciò che per gli occhi può entrare, che può percepire coll’orecchio, fabbricarsi con l’immaginazione, comprendere col cuore.
